Nelda Black, 86, went to be with The Lord on the afternoon of December 31, 2022, in Cordova, AL, surrounded by her loving family.
Nelda was an intelligent, hilarious, care-free, and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved vacationing with her husband, gardening, storytelling, and reading her favorite books. She was a dedicated employee to First National Bank of Jasper for over 40 years. Those that knew her well knew that she loved to spend time with her family and friends and kept them laughing as much as possible. Our Nan was an incredible person that many got the pleasure of knowing, and her legacy will live on with us forever.
Mrs. Black is preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Ray Black; father Levi Chester Estill; mother Hazel Perrin Estill; sisters Dorothy Borden & husband Mack, Mary Hollingshead & husband Donald, Betty Sargent & husband Bob, Carol Reed, Tommie Cordell & husband W.H., and Judy Estill; brother Lee Estill; and brother-in-law Terry Sellers.
Mrs. Black is survived by her daughter Anna Black Palmer & husband Mark; son Richard Perrin Black; granddaughter Anna Lee Palmer; grandson Jake Black; sister Joan Sellers; brother-in-law Herbert Reed; and a host of nieces & nephews and wonderful friends.
Services: A celebration of Life service will be held at Dovertown Church of Christ Wednesday January 4, 2023, at 2:00 PM. L.T. Gurganus will officiate.
In Lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in memory of Nelda Black to the Cordova Health and Rehab Activities Program.
