William Ronald Johnston

William Ronald “Ronny” Johnston, 72, of Jasper, Alabama passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.

Ronny is a 1967 graduate of Walker County High School. He graduated with an Electronics Degree from UELA in Birmingham, Alabama. He served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1973. He worked for 33+ years with Alabama Power Company at Plant Gorgas in Parrish, Alabama, where he retired in 2005. He was a private pilot for many years, enjoyed building Ultralight Airplanes and wooden boats, and operating amateur ham radios in his spare time. He served in several capacities including a Past Master Mason of York Lodge 211 and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Jasper, Alabama.

Mr. Johnston is preceded in death by his parents George Glen and Volla Mae Johnston; brother-in-law Wilbur Lockhart; and great niece Avery Ann Hildreth.

He is survived by his beloved wife Jane; children Chris Grace (Gina) and Sara Steiner (Joe), grandchildren Austin Grace, Dasha Ham (Ross), Kirby Alexander (Eli), Caden Steiner, Campbell Steiner, and Cohen Steiner; sisters Martha Ann Lockhart and Glenda Mae Roberts (Jimmy); a host of nieces and nephews and his loyal dog Suzie.

A Graveside Service will be held at Walker Memory Gardens on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 10:00 am. The Reverend Alan Beasley will officiate.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in memory of Ronny Johnston to First United Methodist Church, 1800 3rd Ave, Jasper, AL 35501.
